This Privacy Policy sets out how Western Maritime Training (the Company) uses and protects any information that you to give to us when you use this website.

The Company is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website; you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

What we collect

  • Demographic information such as postcode, resident address or c/o address
  • Training course history, attendance history, examination records, payment records and National insurance numbers.

Please note: We do NOT hold any financial information such as account details, sort codes, account names, credit card details, debit card details or any other method of payment. Payments via these methods are transferred through our very secure online payment system and are invisible to us. Payment details given to us over the telephone are only used to input the required information to the secure payment system and are invisible to us after the transaction process is completed.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information by law to satisfy us, government bodies or other Authorities of certification held by individuals or companies on behalf of individuals. It also helps to provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.
  • We may use the information to improve our training products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional email or letters with regard to training only, which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. You can opt out of this facility if you wish.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for official market research purposes. We may contact you by email or letter not phone and you can opt out of this if you wish.
  • In cases where we need to contact you urgently, for example in the event of accident, course cancellation or urgent record clarification we may contact you by phone or email.

  • Training records and associated information are held on an individual basis and NOT a company basis. If your company wants or needs access to your information this must be initiated by the individual and that individual must be able to pass our security questioning.

Record updating and issuance

We will automatically update your records and ensure to the best of our ability to accurately maintain your records.

Some certification issued in the past may not be held on our records. If you think this is the case, please send us copies of your certification and we will verify it and place it on your record free of charge.

Please note that we cannot check for lost hardcopy certification unless we are authorised by the Authorities to do so. You must contact the relevant Authority first. In the event you or the relevant Authority authorise us to do so, we will make a charge which may be passed in part or full back to you.

In no circumstances can we issue duplicate or replacement certification unless specifically mandated to do so. Request for this must be passed on to the relevant Authority.
